Discussion Topic: Women in Sikhism (Equality in Theory and Practice). Is equality a reality in our society today? Kaurs United is coming to SFU Surrey to hold a unique Discussion for the Kaurs of UBC and SFU on Saturday, November 24th! Are you sick of being treated like a second class citizen because of your gender? Are you confused about why “Sikhs” today do not practice the Sikh traditions of equality between men and women? Do you have questions or concerns about the status and role of women in our community today? If so, you may be interested in attending this discussion.
Featuring:
-A brief slide show presentation on current day issues pertaining to women in our community (e.g. inequality in jobs, female infanticide, dowry, etc.).
-A brief slide show presentation discussing the role of women in Sikhism.
-An invigorating and uplifting discussion with other SFU and UBC Kaurs about equality in our lives.
