-Do you want to meet Sikh girls and women outside of your circle?
-Do you want to make new friends?
-Do you have problems and stresses you are unable to share with friends?
-Do you want to stay spiritually and physically fit?
-Do you want to talk about your experiences in Sikhi or life with other women?
-Are you seeking Sikh friends but intimidated by Camps where everyone seems “advanced” in Sikhi?
“Kaur Groups” may be what you’re looking for.
Kaurs United is starting a new program entitled Kaur Groups. Although Kaurs in B.C. are blessed with annual camps, they lack an adequate support network. Many young Sikh women have difficulty finding appropriate, trustworthy role models and friends to share their struggles with. By remaining in our own circles and refusing to meet other Kaurs, we restrict our potential growth. Many Kaurs, due to lack of Sangat, fail to maintain goals for self-care, educational enrichment, spiritual advancement, and community involvement. We hope to provide this Sangat through Kaur Groups and grow together!
What Will Signing up For “Kaur Groups” do For You?
-It will help you relax, stay fit, have fun, make new friends, stay in sadh sangat, introduce you to role models, and uphold confidentiality so you can share your feelings!
-You will be matched into a group of 6-8 Kaurs (with 2 mentors), based on where you live.
-You will have the opportunity to have one buddy in your group.
-Your group will meet once per month (or more) to participate in recreational activities (e.g. hiking, walking, sports, baking, etc.), spiritual discussions, goal setting, community events (e.g. free kitchens, public walks), keertans, and more!
-You will be able to meet new Kaurs in a laid back, non-judgmental environment with mentors who will be there to support you.
-Kaur Groups will be long-term so you will have time to build a support network and have somewhere to go when you need a sister.
